Marking the Forest 2012

Oregon August 2012

Marking the Forest is a collaborative project in conjunction with the Architectural Association (UK) summer school program which includes Stewart Dodd, Kristin Cross , Martin Self and  Scrap Marshall and students. Our building sits on the South Ridge of the Bauman Family Tree Farm in Oregon some 300 Meters above sea level in a clearing facing South East. The proposition comprises of spiral timber structure which encompasses an Oculus and a Camera Obscura, measuring 8ft in diameter and 15 ft tall. The structure is made using a simple 2×4 lumber frame clad internally and externally with Douglas fir veneer fromRosoboro Lumber. It exploits the foreground, distant and sky views of the South Ridge and valley views beyond.
